Huzzah and hey-nonny-nonny — Fazenda and Araware both dinged up to 14, which means …
Travel Power!
There’s something fabulously liberating about a Travel Power. The worst part of the early levels is, frankly, trotting from one end of one zone to another. Even if you avoid awfuls like the Hollows, just jogging around Kings Row gets to be a boring PitA — and maneuvering around new zones like Steel and Skyway become seriously risky.
Travel Powers suddenly let you treat zones much more point-to-point, with minimal time going from A to B. Nice.
For Aware it was Super Jump, a very fine power that I use on most of my characters (PC being the obvious exception). For Fazenda, though, it’s something different — Teleport. C’mon, she’s a stage magician — what else would she take?
Already seeing/experiencing the various problems — high endurance cost, vulnerability where you arrive, etc. I need to do some fancy macro work to make the whole process easier (and add a “tag line” to the effort).
I dunno. SJ is probably my favorite so far, just for general utility. Fly is great for PC because he can chat while he does so. TP is going to be good “color” — let’s see how effective it actually is.
Still working on her voice — doing the Irish thing without either overdoing it or crossing over into Scottish — and on her “busines” — card tricks, coin tricks, pulling a lit cigarette out of places, etc.
Interestingly, even as Fazenda works on her voice, Araware is turning out to be quite the chatterbox on the comms, relatively speaking. Margie tends to play quieter characters, so hearing Araware waxing lyrical on metaphysics is pretty fun.
Ran last night with another Storm Knight for an adventure, which gave a little variation. He complemented us on how good of a team we were, which we are (all of our current duos are pretty kick-ass, with the possible exception of Velvet/P-Siren, who are good but not great, at least in terms of DPS).
In between mishes, we managed to get hooked up with a Troll Rave in Skyway, a good first test of our travel powers. Which was fine, except (a) we got teamed up with Sword of Asgard, (b) we didn’t SK, so (c) we were both very squishy (and both died at least once) and got hardly any XP. Still, worth it for the exposure. Fazenda’s definitely about the publicity.
We have a Storm Knights Meet-n-Beat on Monday, so we’ll see how the characters stack up at that point. At the very least, we’ll see if I can avoid addressing them as “Consortium” like I did on the SG comms last night.
Congrats on travel! Level 14 is always a big deal for my characters (except for my Kheld) because of the spiffy new way to get around….love it.
I think SJ is one of my faves (with some practice you can get some decent maneuverability with it, as well),though Flight is a close second.
Oh, and thanks for the save the other night. I knew as soon as Rune Blade jumped into a gang a three reds and an orange, he was in -way- over his head. The funniest part was, I had popped a green the moment the first heal went off…I was thinking…”That’s an odd effect.” I then scaled my view back a little and saw you guys….thanks for getting my back 🙂
*snort*
You addressed the Knights as the Consortium….Funny!
Super Jump is my favorite travel power. Teleport a close second. Though I do love having Hover and teleport for a nice and none falling trip.
You’re Rune Blade? Huh. Another entry for the Alts page of my CoH spreadsheet.
Yup, that’s me! I guess I’m always surprised when people don’t know my alts, for some reason. He’s only level 10 and I’ve had him for a good while….in fact, I -think- he was one of the first ‘outsiders’ to join the Consortium when they came into the Alliance.
I’ve thought about deleting him a couple of times because I find Super Reflexes a hard way to go, but I think I’ll try to stick it out and see how far he can go….plus he has a free respec.
As to not hijack this thread entirely, I think I’ll probably take SJ as a travel with Combat Jump (need every bit of DEF I can get) as the lead in, when he hits magic 14.
Avo, you have a spreadsheet keeping track of everyone? Really?
I think if I were ever going to do another character — which, hey, it might happen after Noelle hits 50 — I’ll want to take SuperJump. The roomie has it, and it was one of my favorite things that Dottie used to do, granting her teammates super bounceability.
That said, you called the Knights the Consortium? For shame! And with all the times we pun on the “Good night, Knight”.
Bill: NP on Rune Blade save. I’ve found a love of being a Good Samaritan with empathy Heals with those characters (Faz and PC) who can do it — having spotted someone I knew just made it icing on the cake.
And if I had a nickel for every time (that particular Council zone) + (my hubris) = (my debt) … well, I could pay for my monthly subscription.
I deleted my only SR Scrapper (OFFICER), so I appreciate the difficulty. That said, the Defense of CJ is so tiny, taking it for any reason other than it being a great maneuver power (and lead-in to SJ) doesn’t seem worthwhile to me. But CJ is still a great power.
BD: I took Hover with Faz, too. Heard too many stories about folks falling (usually into mobs of reds). Plus, if I decide to write something, it’s one less bit to have to worry about.
All: Yes, I addressed the Knights as the Consortium. Fortunately, only one person responded, and didn’t say anything about it. Went along with more than one MT last night between channels.
Bill….
Rune Blade is Katana/SR right?
If so, you are golden. Katana/SR is the only scrapper that is like i4 scrappers still.
What you do is take Divine avalanche.
Slot it:
Acc/Acc/def/def/def/rechg
Make that attack your auto attack and every attack (depending on enhancements) will give you +24 to +32 defence verses Melee every attack. Zazi can do up to three before the first one drops, but most of the time it is just two. Every successful hit stacks…do the math.
There is a reason I call her Zazi Tank.
BD: Yes, he’s Katanna/SR and….wow…I’ll definitely have to make sure I take DA then.
I’ll slot it as per your suggestion and see how I do.
Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.
BTW, what level is that available?
12th I think?
Now that they fixed BS’s Parry Kazima can do the same thing. Even unslotted I can get 2 shields going at any one time and it makes a great low level filler inplace of brawl. I even made a BS/Reg alt on another server who is just too fun to play. All damage and no down time!
Broadsword! It’s what all the Cool Scrappers are taking!
Yes, ktbuffy, I keep a spreadsheet. At my advanced age, memory is quite… what’s the word…? Hmmm… Oh, yes! Unreliable.
It has the following tabs:
Magic (lists each enhancement, and what levels are available from each vendor)
Insps (which of my contacts carries what inspirations–useful when I need to grab some between/during missions, as not all my contacts carry a full range)
Expl (which exploration badges I’ve gotten)
Hist (which historical badges I’ve gotten)
Achs (which accomplishment badges I’ve gotten)
AVs (which Arch Villains I’ve beaten toward that accolade–not as important now that I have that contact)
Accs (which badges are required for the various accolades, and which I’ve gotten)
Locs (locations in-game, such as Avo’s and others’s homes–made before I knew there was a thread on the Alliance page, but still more convenient)
Miss (What missions each contact has available, and whether they’re timed, hunts, etc.–if mission has been accepted, its location)
Help (all the people who offered to team with me after I outed myself as a depressive, with global handles if given)
Heroes (all the information I’ve collected on various heroes in the game, including real name, SG, AT/Origin, notes such as spouse/SO, and info on players where known)
Alts (all the known alts of important folks)
So, is that weird? Am I the only player to do this?
Not at all weird. Some folks just “play,” other folks keep extensive records and the like. I probably fall somewhere in the middle, but to each there own.
