Palely loitering

I have a weird bug going on (and, yes, I’ve /bugged it) with Velvet, where costume parts show up as white. That is, I buy them in color, and they show up in the Costume command as being in color, but when she actually wears them, they show up as white.
So, for example, her “classic” costume (actually in slot #2 right now) is all white when she wears it. Ditto her new (third) outfit, short shorts and tube top and heels and short gloves — only the shorts are in color.
Mildly irritating. I mean, it’s not like Velvet’s pure as driven snow or anything …
(Noticing her Creation Date, I see I’m a month short of my CoH anniversary, by the way.)

  1. Hmmm. Actually, it’s the “joined team” date in the SG screen, but I’m pretty sure I joined Velvet up to the FP very shortly after I created her.

  2. Hmmm…
Have you looked at your SG settings?
*Feeling like a help desk person*

  3. It’s sooner than that. In a fit of nostalgia, I went back and reread many of your early CoH posts. In doing so, I found that my anniversary is February 7th. Yours would seem to be February 4th, just 9 days away.
Avo dinged 50 in less than a year. About three weeks after I started playing, an MMOer at work said I should have hit the Level 50 cap already. Power gamers… :p
As far as the costume bug, have you determined if other people see the pieces as white? I once had a problem with a disappearing cape. Turned out I was the only one who was unable to see it.
Alternatively… Are you in SG mode? If so, you may have to go into the SG Settings and click the buttons by each costume piece to change them from SG colors to the original.

  4. I have in fact confirmed that others saw it that way.
    SG mode?
    Um …
(Rushes to fire up the damned game …)

  5. Firk ding blast …
Nothing to see here. Move along. Hey, look, it’s Hamidon! (ducks and runs while everyone is looking)

  6. I find it mildly irksome that the SG settings affect all of a character’s costumes. That means that if you want your primary costume to be in SG colors, your other costumes will also show up in those colors, which can look very odd if you happen to switch to a business suit or some other civvies. I wish we could set each costume’s colors individually.
Dave, of course, knew this all along, and just posted this to see how long it would take for somebody to respond. It was all a test! That’s it, a test!

  7. Yes! Yes, that’s right! It’s This Week’s CoX Trivia Test! And you guys passed with flying colors! Well done! Well done!
