Velvet and P-siren really haven’t done much since we hit 30 with them and did various the various TFs at that level. One reason was that I was just getting really tired of the slow DoT for Velvet, the other was disdain with the Bubbler issues of PS (esp. when duoing with a tank).
So Margie took it into her head that Ho Ho and Princess Peep really need to pick up the Wedding Ring at Striga before we outlevel the missions. So Saturday was Striga Day.
Thought we were going to die.
Not literally. I mean, on Heroic, it was all blues, and Ho Ho was tough enough to stand up to anything the Family and Council dished out, and with Peep’s debuffs, they didn’t stand a chance, unless we died of low-DoT boredom. Peep’s radiation did slow, steady damage, and Ho Ho’s axe did slow, ponderous damage. And …
Oh, for a blaster. Or a scrapper.
The Wedding Band is worth it (eventually). But it really reminded me of how Peep and Ho Ho are definitely team builds, and assume someone other than the two of them will be around to actually, oh, do some damage.
If it’s any consolation, I have similar issues with many of my ‘super-tanks’ — Hype’s damage, solo, is really quite minor, and it takes him a coon’s age to take stuff out. It never comes up, really, because Hype groups with other folks who do the ‘real damage’.
Pummelcite’s damage is better, but still fairly slow — I find myself waiting for my Fury bar to build 😛 It’s even slower with granite on, but seriously, with Granite on, that means I’m in a team, and THEY are doing the damage.
The damage isn’t great most of the time, I’ll be the first person to point that out. Are tanks still one of my all-time favorite guys for soloing? Absolutely. I’ve gone and make myself a sandwich while Pumm is facing off against a purple-con agony mage, with brawl on auto-fire, just to give him time to build his endurance up after having cleared up the rest of the room — when I get back, his endurance bar is full, and so is his health. 🙂
When folks talk about upsides… that’s the kind of upside I like. 🙂
Normally, doesn’t come up with Ho Ho, either, since she’s inevitably surrounded by scrappers and blasters. Going like this, though — tries my patience.
Was one of my first real opportunities to do full-room pulls, which was entertaining.
