CoX: Hey there, wait a minute, Mr. Postman …

Does anyone actually use the email functionality within CoX? Because I think it’s been about eleventy-zillion years since I got anything in there besides influence-farming spam.

Of course, there aren’t a lot of folks I communicate with — but even in the heyday of my social butterflyness on CoX, I found the email interface awkward as heck, and maybe got two messages in all that time.

I wish there was a way to just get rid of it, so that I didn’t have to clear the spam with each character to keep from having that GLOWING RED “EMAIL” INDICATOR grabbing my attention.

  1. Arguably the (second-)best thing coming in I16: The ability to set your Email to “friends-only.”

  2. We use it a lot in SG management. Basically when someone’s alt gets too crusty, we boot it and send a form e-mail telling them why it got booted and how to reapply.

  3. The only thing I hate more than Super Groups is spam eMail. Glad to hear they’re giving a friends-only option. I would’ve settled for the “email” word not turning red, but this is even better.

Now the question is: how will the spammers get around this? Spamming global isn’t going to work as a GM should spot them and hammer them very quickly. Perhaps we’re back to spam /tells?

  4. Oi! Hate SGs, hurrumph! OK, most of them ARE lame, but the Repeat Offenders coalition kinda rocks. And not just because I’m an SG leader in there . . .. OK, maybe partially because of that . . .

  5. Okay, for SG management that makes sense. And with the “friends only” (I would strongly urge that be set to the default), it might actually be useful.
