For all that CoH has a (deserved) reputation for character design/costuming, I remain amazed by the things one cannot do.
So, for example, Torchielle went in last night to get her lvl 20 costume from Serge at Icon. What I wanted was jeans and a t-shirt. Basic, simple mufti.
Nuh-uh.
The jeans part is no problem. But for the top, I can
(a) get a form-fitting “top with skin” t-shirt form that looks like I’m in a wet t-shirt competition. Not very Torchy.
(b) get a loose sweat-shirty kind of thing that’s the same “baggy” as her uniform. Not very distinctive.
(c) get an actual “shirt” that has a cropped midriff (of various styles). I went with that … but, again, it’s not the best fit for Torchy.
A t-shirt. Simple, one would think.
Ah, well.
Yes.
I want the tank top shirt that the men have for woman, as well as just a collored shirt with a tie…that and the corset the Carnies have would be spiffy.
An honest-to-gosh leather jacket for the guys would be pretty keen, too. And let’s not get into the whole Trenchcoat Brigade thing …
The costuming seems designed around four-color Silver Age heroes and, now, anime. The more contemporary move to heroes in mufti is almost an afterthought. Though at least they have pants.
No….
Trench coats would be cool to have, And yes, leather jackets like the skulls leaders have would be great.
Trenchcoats are a huge gap. I imagine they would produce some interesting animation challenges, but, really …
And, yes, given that there are groups out there with leather jackets, why they aren’t available to heroes is beyond me. Of course, we don’t have pistols, either. Or Rikti energy blades …
I want a long skirt. Is that so much to ask? I’ll even deal with the butt cleavage from the latest issue, but give me an ankle length skirt, please!
Yes…that would be nice as well.
Torchy would definitely have gone for a long skirt. Even something below the knees would be nice. (Something down to the ankles would, again, be problematic with some animations, e.g., a MA scrapper’s kicks.)
Umm. T-shirt.
Tights section… third or fourth shirt in. It’s like “tights 1, tights 2, t-shirt”
Or something like that, but it’s right there in the basic old tights area.
I’ll take a look, but … the stuff I saw did not look very t-shirty. More like form-fitting-latexy.
Of course, I inadvertently clicked “Next” and selected stuff prematurely, thus losing my “free” recostuming and having to go back in and spend more to get it to where I wanted.
