  1. Whoa, whoa, whoa there , Tex. I rather have an event every fracking week than no events at all. Beauty of these past two were that they were optional to take part in. If you’re getting bored, don’t hit teh Pocket D. Me, I absolutely love the Hero/Villian Team up. Corruptors and a real Tank make beautiful music together.

  2. I like them, but sometime I feel torn. I have so many alts that it is hard to decide who “need” which badge or costume piece. The winter even was fun but it drove me crazy having to run it 4 time for any toon I collect badges on or even two time just to get the winter costume pieces.

  3. My concern is that, at the moment, “events” are neither special nor part of the ordinary richness of the game. I find them distracting (particularly because they have spiffy stuff with them), but if they happen all the time, it’s not nearly as much fun.
If the content of the game is poor enough that folks *need* “special” events to make it all entertaining, then I’d rather they were applying themselves to new zones or upgrading/fixing old ones, rather than some temporary content.
(I’ll also note that I find a lot of the special events kind of silly from an RP/concept fashion. But that’s another story.)

  4. I had the same bloody problem. But then I finally decided to go all out with my Main, Atomic Saint ,heroside, and my villian, Inquisitor Char. Those are the two Ive devoted to getting badgies for. Anybody else is gravy. Otherwise, I had 8 toons at the time of the Halloween event I was grinding out trick or treats for. Since I never got tired of pounding the snot outta snaptooth, I managed everybody quite nicely . But I would NEVER think to try to open up 1600 presents…

  5. Point Taken. I would love to see Boomtown put to better use other than a ginormous Council excercise yard.

  6. I’ve heard that’s coming in the next couple of Issues. If they do as good a job as with Faultline, I’ll be very pleased.

  7. I’ve noticed a lot of people do what Manbot has said here: Pick one or two characters they absolutely want the badges for (typically one hero and one villain per server they frequent), and those are the ones they get them for. That way, if the event has no further appeal, they can go back to the regular stuff.
Also, remember that these holidays are pretty much mushed together calendar-wise, and during the summer, we’ve got nothing. I think it’s just that the special events aren’t spread out, so that, by the time the Valentines comes along, it seems like there’s been a constant stream of them.
After the whole Winter thing, I’ve pretty much decided that it’ll be a matter of “Who do I want this badge on?” followed by “Do I feel like doing this today?” The former is just a version of the ‘Pick one’ decision from above – like when I just -had- to have the Frosty badge for Frost Enchantress, because that’s how she introduces herself; and the latter is what has saved the game for me in general. When I stopped -having- to do anything, it became a hell of a lot more fun to play again.
Wow. Sorry for running on at the fingers there. :/
