Fun with numbers.
Unlike 2000 or 2001, the year 2002 is a rare reversible year. That is, it’s a year in which the first two digits, ’20’, are reversed to make the last two digits, ’02.’ Since the year 1000 A.D. there have been only 10 other such years: 1001, 1111, 1221, 1331, 1441, 1551, 1661, 1771, 1881, and 1991. Except for the 11 years between 1991 and 2002, all the other reversible years are 110 years apart.
In other words, it will take another 1000 years before two reversible years will squeeze together within an average human lifespan, as they have with 1991 and 2002. The next abbreviated, 11-year beat in the 110-year-reversible-year clock won’t happen until 2992 and 3003.
