I hate paying bills. It’s dull, dreary, tiresome, and a constant reminder that my financial resources are limited, and I can’t have whatever I want, and I definitely want more than I have.
Money worries are always a burden. I know very few people who don’t have them. Many people have vastly more precarious finances than we do. We could definitely be more frugal, but we aren’t in the downward spiral to financial ruin, either. Even the Great December Hits (which include such joys as auto registration, auto insurance, and, of course, Giftmas) simply give us a blush of pink rather than a deep crimson rash.
Still, I hate paying bills.
But, like hitting one’s head with a hammer, it always feels do good when you’re done, and can put it away to another day. And it always feels so virtuous, too.
(By the way, I use PayMyBills as an on-line bill-paying service. It’s keen, and it removes a lot of the impediments that make bill-paying such a hassle. Not all of them (and it adds a few small ones itself), but net it’s well worth it. If you’re interested, ping me about it. Or let me give you a formal referral, which saves me money. 🙂 )
I suppose it beats having to go out and hunt and gather my food, and tan my own hides for clothes, and build my own silicon chips for computing, but it’s still annoying.
The world doesn’t owe me a living. But I wouldn’t mind winning the lottery. Of course, to do that, I’d have to play.
