Does this mean that you WON’T get to try XP? I’m using it on the new laptop, and I’m gettinig used to it. But I still miss 98.
My God, the best day of my computing life was when I upgraded from 98 to 2000. Worst day was when I had migrated from NT4 to 98. Yeesh.
I was more than willing to go XP, and probably will within the next year, or when I get a new machine, or when/if this one craps out on me. However, given that it will take me about 2-3 solid working days of my life to migrate to a new system (even with the backups), I can’t really justify doing it just for kicks.
Good Lord, woman! How can you miss 98?
I am living the Happy CAD Dance since I upgraded to 2000 (and dumped a gichie system in the process)
I will head on up to XP as soon as the periphrials I use are supported (Linksys and HP are two of the main players in my office)
And then I will be even happier…
I suppose it’s because I never upgraded from 98. I was so NOT going to ME, and then by the time 2000 came out, it just wasn’t worth it.
98 didn’t “dumb down” my computer for me. I had to spend most of a night going through preferences so that I would see extensions, hidden folders and files, etc. And then was fortunate enough to get an email on a list I’m on about how to show hidden Windows components in the Add/Remove Software panel. I do not WANT to use Windows Messaging, and stop asking me about it!! Grrrr….
I’m used to XP now, but I won’t upgrade the desktop any time soon. Besides, it’s become my husband’s game machine now, for those games that they don’t make for his Mac.
