I don’t often push other folks’ blogs. I mean, I’ve got the Link List o’ Numminess off to the left, so anyone who wants to know what I like to read can usually figure it out.
Sure, there may be individual entries I point to (like Stacy’s, below), and I try to cite blogs I find things on (the ubiquitous “via” tags). But, by and large, I endorse the entertainment value of the Link List o’ Valued Entertainment, and, by the way, use that as my actual list to visit on as regular a basis as I can manage.
That having been said, if you’re not reading James Lileks’ Bleat, you should be. Daily. It’s not just fun links and personality tests. Indeed, it’s neither of those. It’s daily essays. Long, rich, nearly always chuckle-inducing, usually thoughtful, always well-written. He does this for a living, people, and that he’s willing to also do it, for free, here, is to our collective enrichment.
Anyone who can post a simultaneously hilarious and touching account of life taking care of his daughter, Gnat (who bears an uncanny resemblance at times to Katherine), and then segue into a screed on Hollywood and stereotypes and folks’ selective critiques of same, should be read regularly and often.
He’s one of the few folks out there whose tip jar I’ve tipped into. Try him. You have my guarantee.
