Lots of folks are signing up for Micro$oft’s Passport service, which, as part of its .NET strategy, allows one-screen sign-in and check-out at web sites. Of course, the reason a lot of them are doing so is because Micro$oft makes it so inconvenient to not do it.
Of course, it will become even more popular — and more profitable for M$ — if the US Government adopts it as the sign-in technology for its web sites.
Yeesh.
Oh yuck.
I had diligently been avoiding that latest M$ ‘take over the world’ strategy, and now I will have to use it if I want to access the Library of Congress online?
Sick.
That the government would allow this is sick – that they might actively participate in it smacks of the smell of big money.
Microsoft should be shredded into little bloody bits and let whatever phoenix products it may have rise from it’s ashes…
