The Hayman Fire is now officially the biggest in Colorado History. The official summer fire season starts Sunday …
The fire has gotten the attention of the world media. I’ve received calls from coworkers in Orlando and Antwerp.
Fortunately (for me), at least as of last evening, the fire’s progress to the north had basically stopped. Instead, it was ravaging south, with firemen pulled off the line there because of the risk. We’ve had relatively cool weather (high 70s) the past day or two — that’s supposed to go up to the mid-80s today, with a strong chance of thunderstorms. On the plus side, rain=good. On the minus side, lightning=bad.
The 9News site is demanding logins this a.m. — I wonder if they’ve been overwhelmed by links (ahem) and had to do some maintenance. The KMGH site story is still active, and they’ve stopped changing around the URL, which is nice.
er, your text is wrapping funny in IE…the first paragraph is buried under the map… just thought you’d want an fyi…
Hmmm. IE6 shows it just fine …
I’ll tweak the format a bit and see if that resolves it. Too many graphics, not enough space.
Your weather pixie doesn’t show any smoke, this seems strange compared to what I am hearing on NPR… Has the smoke lessened? the wind changed?
Hope all is still well with you.
Well, to listen to the media, the entire Denver area is subject to choking smoke, falling ash, blasts of flame and a plague of frogs …
The wind has shifted a bit to the east, as the smoke plume on the satellite pic shows. Things vary from hour to hour, but at the moment there is not enough smoke for the Weather Station at Centennial Airport (KAPA) to record “Smoke” as one of the weather conditions.
