Micro$oft is horribly worried about the possibility that the US Government might consider open source software published under the GPL (General Public License) concept, which flies in the face of M$ proprietary model. Thus, they hired the Alexis de Tocqueville Institute to publish a scathing white paper condemnation of this unsafe, unsound, and unAmerican prospect.
Fortunately, there are a few people who are more than willing to step up to the place on this, and show how the AdTI has no idea what it’s talking about — or, rather, it and its sponsor do know what they are talking about, but they’re talking out of worry, and are simply playing the old FUD-Factor (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) Gambit.
Excellent reading.
