By which hack, you now see, I can have “Additional Entry”/”Extended Entry”/”More …” stuff show up on the main page here with the click of a button to expand, then collapse it, without having to load the full entry archive. Keen stuff.
Don’t know, still, how much I’ll use it (less than some), but it will be helpful, I’ve no doubt.

What’s I’d really like to do is use something similar to hide about 2/3rds of my right and left link bars when I’m not using them, so that all the stuff immediately visible would show on one screen. That would be sort of keen.
Your entries don’t tend to be as long as some people’s, so you’ll get less use out of it. 😉

My question is this:
1. Does it actually reduce load time? (I doubt it, since everything is still downloaded, just not displayed.)
2. Does the “hidden” stuff still get hit by Google, etc.? (Probably, but I’m not sure.)
I don’t use it to reduce load time. I use it simply because I’m a neat freak about my blog. I like the short intros instead of being faced with the entirety of a post (especially long ones) all at once. As far as “load time”, it is MUCH faster than the “more” link which had to load the entire new page.
I don’t know if the hidden stuff gets hit by search engines or not. Frankly, I’d be happy if it weren’t. I don’t really want my blog to be indexed, though I can only control that to a certain extent.
Oh, another good reason to use it is if you post multiple entries on the same day. It kind of keeps them all together, in a little neater arrangement. Or, I might just be obsessive about my “read more’s”. Hahah!
In general I’ve preferred blogs that “lay it all out there,” since doing [MORE…] links to another page was always painful. Even with this code, it’s still an extra click to expand the text, so I’ll likely make use of it more as the exception than the rule.

Okay, a question…but I should probably go look at the script for the answer (sigh).
Is this a per-blog hack, or all of MT hack? As you know, I have more than one blog off my MT installation, and I don’t think I’d want this for everything.
