Here’s a nice article about the recent revelation that the Fantastic Four’s “Thing” — Ben Grimm — is Jewish.
Evidently this was Lee and Kirby’s intent all along, but never voiced, presumably because in the early 60s it would have been, amazingly enough, too controversial.

Although accoding to Stan (interviewed on NPR), it was not his conscious intent that The Thing was Jewish, although Stan was.
Hmmm. Wish I’d heard that. Of course, it wouldn’t be the only place where Jack and Stan disagreed (or didn’t communicate).
