It’s the Tuesday This-or-That….

It’s the Tuesday This-or-That.

1. Sesame Street or Captain Kangaroo? Sesame Street was, I am afraid to admit it, just after my time (though I thought the Electric Company was cool). The Captain, on the other hand, was great, and I thought the ping pong balls bit was tremendously funny as a kid.

2. Muppet Show or Fraggle Rock? The Muppet Show, definitely. They had some amazing guests.

3. He-Man or Jem? Never watched Jem. Tried to avoid watching He-Man (though I understand that there’s a new rendition coming out, and it at least looks halfway decent).

4. The Smurfs or Muppet Babies? Can I just shoot myself instead?

5. Archie or Josie & the Pussycats? I can sing both theme songs. Does that help? Hrm. Probably Josie.

6. H.R. Pufnstuf or The Banana Splits? Both were on opposite something else I wanted to watch, so I never watched either of them nearly enough. The Banana Splits is certainly more watchable today, and I loved all those little featurettes. Uh-oh, Chongo!

7. The Partridge Family or The Brady Bunch? Definitely the Brady’s. The Partridge’s always seemed kind of stupid to me. The Brady Bunch, on the other hand, was the definition of what family life should be like.

8. Happy Days or Welcome Back Kotter? Happy Days, until it “jumped the shark.” I never got much into Kotter, though I used to be able to do a great Arnold Horschak imitation. Who’d’ve thought that Vinnie Barbarino would be the one to go on to big bucks fame?

9. Punky Brewster or Small Wonder? See #4.

10. The Facts of Life or Silver Spoons? Facts was great, at least for a while. And the opening exterior school sequences in the first few seasons were filmed at my dorm.

Don’t sell the Smurfs short! I hated them until I actually watched the show, at the behest of my then-wife. Much humor actually geared toward adults, and an impressive use of classical music!

    >7. The Partridge Family or The Brady Bunch? Definitely the Brady’s. The Partridge’s …

Argh! Please, please, please don’t use apostrophes to pluralize! It’s beastly!

  2. I knew Soleil briefly when she joined my junior high school for a few weeks, after her Punky Brewster days. Poor thing. I pulled her braid.

Yeah, my brushes with fame were few and cruel… heh heh.
