Young whippersnappers today may not remember Tutmania that swept over the nation during the exhibition of the “Treasures of Tutankhamen” museum exhibition. It brought about a revival of Egyptian art and architectural influence that’s still visible today.
(Slightly older whippersnappers will also remember King Tut as played by the inimitable Victor Buono on the Batman TV series. But I digress.)
Scientists, using x-rays and similar forensic tools and techniques, have recreated what young King Tut looked like. Cool, and very unlike the unearthly visage from his gold mask.
How could you forget the obligatory mention of Steve Martin’s King Tut song? Huh? HUH?
Sheesh.
Wonderful image of the man. It will be rattling around in my head all day, I’m sure.
Ah. Yes, of course. Don’t know how I forgot. Steve Martin rocks.
And the Bangle’s “Walk like an Egyptian”!
The boy king.
That image works…
They did one of those reconstructions for Cro Magnon man some (many many) years ago on the cover of Discovery Magazine – I swear it looked exactly like my Grandfather… it was eerie (and he was NOT amused…)
Wow! Vin Diesel ruled the Egyptians thousands of years ago!
