It’s the Tuesday This-or-That, Disney-style.
1. Heroines: Ariel (Little Mermaid) or Belle (Beauty & the Beast)?
Belle is bright, heroic, loving, compassionate, and she loves to read.
Ariel disobeys orders and moons after stuff that’s bad for her.
I have a little “Belle Walking Along Reading a Book” figuring in my office, to commemorate all the lunchtimes I walk along, reading a book. Belle rocks.
2. More heroines: Mulan or Pocahontas?
Never saw Pocahontes. Mulan, though, rocks almost as much as Belle.
3. Princesses: Snow White or Cinderella?
{Shrugs indifferently.}
4. Toy Story: Buzz or Woody?
{Mutters something about still not having seen Toy Story, dagnabbit.}
5. Animals: Simba (Lion King) or Bambi?
Simba’s kind of a jerk. Even when he stops being a jerk, he remains kind of a whiner. Gotta go with the Bambster.
6. Naughty boys: Peter Pan or Pinocchio?
Gotta be Pan.
7. Sidekicks: Sebastian the Crab (Little Mermaid) or Jiminy Cricket (Pinocchio)?
Go with the Cricket.
8. Villians: Wicked Queen (Snow White) or Cruella DeVil (101 Dalmations)?
The Wicked Queen was a powerful sorceress. Cruella was a bumbling idiot, who surrounded herself with fools.
9. Classics: Goofy or Pluto?
Pluto. Goofy gives me a stomach-ache.
10. And of course: Mickey or Donald?
Never could stand Mickey. Really. Way too squeaky-clean for me.
Donald gets a bad rap. He just has some anger control issues, compounded by a speech impediment. But he has a cool little sailor suit, and a fabulously rich uncle.
Dave, I’ll return the 25 bonus points I won if you can tell me, without looking it up, who voiced Scrooge McDuck. And I’ll toss in 25 of my own points if you can also tell me who gave Professor Ludwig von Drake his voice!
And 5 additional points for explaining to me why I use so many italics to emphasize words and phrases!
Hmmmm. Never watched enough of either Scrooge McDuck or Ludwig von Drake to say.
I’ll bid for the 5 pts by guessing, “Because of the incredibly convenient italics button I’ve so considerately put above the comment area.” I.e., because it’s there.
You probably couldn’t have gotten Scrooge McDuck, as few people remember Alan Young (best known as Wilbur Post on Mr. Ed). You might have recognized the voice, as he used the same accent in George Pal’s The Time Machine.
I don’t know how much you remember about me from our time together in high school, Dave, but my idol was Paul Frees, the voice of Ludwig von Drake, as well as the Ghost Host at the Haunted Mansion, Boris Badenov, and hundreds of others.
I will gladly part with the 5 points. I was afraid my excessive use of italics was a sign of a deep-rooted psychological disturbance. It’s so nice to learn I’m completely normal, just like you.
Had I been going to make a SWAG about it, I woudl have suggested Frees (just ’cause I do remember). A great talent.
You probably know this…but I just found out…You should see Toy Story simply because Joss Whedon wrote the screenplay. Plus, it’s a great flick.
Really?
Well, I’ll be damned.
