Today is the First Anniversary of the intial public release of Movable Type. Huzzah!

And as a birthday gift for all of us, Ben and Mena have released v2.5 of their amazing free software.
There are, in fact, times that I feel optimistic about humanity.
(Of course, I’m not nuts. I’ll wait a day or two for v2.5.1 to come out.)
Stupid question……if you didn’t do the original download and install for your blog…..can you still upgrade? My guess is probably not. I just don’t know these things.
Happy Birthday, MT! Best thing that’s happened to me in – oh…..maybe the last month and a half!
I’m not sure I understand the question. You’re running MT, but you didn’t do the download?
The site was setup and I was handed the keys. Basically, I was having trouble with my Blogger site (imagine that!) and Mike went in to work on code. He finally got so frustrated that he went and created my new site, hosting included, and said, “here, try this out.” So, I didn’t do a single download.
Ah.
In theory, you only need to download the update, FTP it up to your site, and it should work pretty easily. The MT folks write good instructions.
On the other hand, not having done the initial instruction, you might want to go bug Mike about it …
(But wait a few days, until the inevitable 2.5.1 comes out.)
Ewwwwww……..you uttered the three most dreaded letters in my vocabulary………F.T.P………..
I keep insisting that if it were FTD…..well, I could do something there! I shall bug Mikey. Thanks!!!
heh… your comment about 251 made me laugh. all it takes is to get burned once, and point oh anything suddenly doesn’t seem like a good idea.
Well, I went ahead and Did the 2.5(.0) install. Worked (so far) like a champ.
