This is the dumbest move by them, and I won’t be surprised to see them collapse because of it.

It’s like the software and operating system industry (as defined by Microsoft). The software forces you to upgrade your hardware. Can’t play that brand new copy of Britney Spears? Buy a new CD player.
We’re so media dependent these days that it’s driving us into the ground. Probably do us better to give up on mass produced music and turn to local bands and books. You know what? That doesn’t sound like a bad idea…
