I never much cared for the OS, from what I saw of it. IBM’s graphical interfaces have always been a bit — off. But its fans swore by it’s stability, and Margie often spoke well of it from her time under its spell.

  1. I loved Os/2 while I had it. It was stable, never crashed, no BLUE SCREEN of DEATH, never any virus’. Best thing right up to any of the unix/linux based platforms. Though Mac OS X seem to be pretty good.

  2. Its stability is what I heard most about it.

Part of that was how it was written, with much tigher control over the core processes than Windows. That has some trade-offs, but some major advantages.

The lack of viruses I wouldn’t be as wild about — virus writers tend to focus on the biggest, flashiest targets they can find, which is why Windows has been such an obvious victim. That Micro$oft makes it so easy is just icing on the cake …
