Interestingly enough, the Volkswagen folks decided that they had to change the accepted spelling of Twareg (accepted since it comes from a language that has just recently been written down) to Touareg. It’s more phoenetic in its original spelling, but the automakers have a logic all their own.
In case you’re wondering – It’s the tribal name of the nomadic Blue Men who were that made their livelyhood traversing the Sahara dessert with goods (especially in west Africa). Soverign national boundaries have made it impossible for them to continue their traditional work. Today they keep their past alive primarily by performing for travelers, and digging up fossils in the dessert (and selling said fossils to tourists).
