Okay, this is driving me batty. As far as I can tell, my notebook computer should be able to, via our WiFi home network, connect to the printer hanging off of my wife’s machine.
But it can’t.
Does anyone have any —
UPDATE: Well, writing down all the particulars (omitted) made me consider something I hadn’t tried, so I tried it, and, behold, it now all works! Yowzers!
Thank you for all your unnecessary but no-doubt-forthcoming help.
How did you get it to work?
Told the ZoneAlarm firewall on my notebook that Margie’s machine was a trusted zone. Hey, presto.
Good to know. We’re going to try hanging our Epson off the AirPort Extreme base station to see if we can get it networked that way. Just have to move the base station to the living room and find a table to put the printer on…
Home networking is an amazing thing (esp. wireless), but, damn, it can be a tricky beast. Especially when you have a notebook that has to work on other systems, too.
And here’s the value of Blog-as-Extended-Memory. Searching for this entry reminded me of how I solved it last time — and, thus, I was able to (after much angst) fix it this time. Huzzah!
