Network registration yahoos — er, idiots, Veri$ign/NetSol is in trouble for shoddy security in turning over someone’s domain to someone else with a laughable lack of validation.
But unlike just some poor sap of a blogger getting zapped, this time it’s the high profile al-Jazeera site.
Hackers impersonating an Al-Jazeera employee tricked one of the Internet’s most popular Web addressing companies, Network Solutions Inc., into making technical changes that effectively turned over temporary control of the network’s Arabic and English Web sites.
Yeesh.
I mean, I’m not a big fan of al-Jazeera, but this sort of thing is so typical of what the Veri$ign/NetSol dimbulbs have done in the past, that I’m hoping that finally some of that dirt will stick this time.
