Andrew Sullivan notes:
More good news from Southern Iraq, where the Brits seem to be doing a fantastic job. One question: how did they manage not to collapse as a military force? After all, they allow openly gay soldiers in their units, thus undermining unit cohesion, destroying morale, wrecking troops’ privacy and making it impossible to fight. A miracle against all the odds, I suppose.
I don’t imagine anyone in the Pentagon will notice.
Gay or not, anyone willing to fight for their country and liberate a country from the evil regime of Saddam Hussien has surely got be admired and respected.
Quote ” A miracle against all the odds, I suppose.”
Why is that?, the British may not have the worlds largest military, but their armed forces are one of the most highly trained and respected in the world.
I’d rather have a gay soilder fighting for my freedom, than letting a bible preaching do-gooder like Mr Sullivan, who’d no doubt run form the first sign of trouble.

Um, I think you missed the note of sarcasm in Mr Sullivan’s words. Andrew Sullivan is, in fact, gay, and the snippet above was meant to be a challenge to those short-sighted nay-sayers who claim that having openly gay individuals in the US military would bring about its downfall.
Um — Sullivan is gay. And Catholic — I’ve never heard Catholics described as “Bible-preaching” anything, that slur is usually reserved for the Baptists and such. Another day, another new way to put someone down!
=O Great minds think alike! 😉
Actually, I know a few Protestants who would be appalled to hear Catholics called “Bible-preaching,” seeing as how they are idolatrous Papists and all.
But I digress.
