I noted that Zempt offered no way to make post-posting corrections to a post. (Yeah, I know, I should be able to edit it completely before posting, but I frequently notice something wrong after I view the page. Sue me.) So I fired up SharpMT again.
It worked this time. Go fig.
The programs seems to work pretty similarly. The interface on SharpMT seems a bit more mature, and it can pull down the most recent posts, too, so that’s a plus (see above). It doesn’t seem to have the paragraph formatting of Zempt — but I do my own paragraph formatting, anyway, so that’s not a big deal.
Plus, SharpMT lets me set my own screen font, and upload images, too (not yet tested). Zempt home page is a bit slicker in its online presentation, but SharpMT is a more mature product. For now. We’ll see.
One thing I’d miss doing this sort of offline writing is not having the link-bar-blog-this button, and the lack of TrackBack ping info. But going with a mixed approach may be doable, even if the difference in interfaces might seem distracting. As I said, we’ll see.
UPDATE: Actually, no, SharpMT doesn’t let me edit an older post (except to let me open it up in an MT browser window for editing). However, unlike Zempt, the edit window doesn’t clear out when the post is saved.
UPDATE: (Mutter mutter mutter) If you do actually try to edit and re-post the contents of the Edit window, however, SharpMT posts it as another new (i.e., duplicate) post.
