Ghost of a Flea brings up memories not only of Battlestar Galactica, but two staples of my childhood, Rocket Robin Hood and, in the comments, The Mighty Hercules. Good Lord.

Softness in his eyes,
Iron in his thighs,
Virtue in his heart,
Fire in every part
Of the Mighty Hercules!

And people wonder why I think The Teen Titans is a pretty decent cartoon …

  1. Heh. Either is likely.

Both shows were Canadian imports (evidently), and ran in sydication in selected US markets. It’s altogether possible I saw them while we lived in the Bay Area (i.e., before I was 8), and that they never aired in LA.

  2. Well, of course, at the time you were watching them, I was still living in North Dakota. Frankly, the only shows I can remember from that period are the live-action Batman and the animated Superman. Those were either the only shows I watched, or the only ones I remember. (Most of my childhood is a blank. Don’t ask me why.)

  3. Ah. I remember that edition of Superman. Great fun. (Episode I remember best was his going up against the Parasite, because it was the first “He can absorb my power, so I’ll defeat him by letting him absorb all of it!” schtick I ever saw. Nowadays, it’s old hat).

  4. And they got Bud Collyer to do the voice! He had done the voice in the 40s theatrical shorts and the radio series! (He originated the deepening of Supes’ voice, so radio listeners could “see” Clark change to Superman.) It’s still his voice I “hear” when I read the comics.
