The Good News: Our cable broadband works, and is fast, fast, fast. 1.7Mbps down, 200Kbps up.
The Bad News: I am so fricking sick and tired of frelling pulling teeth and pounding away at the craptastic management software over and over and over to get our antique D-Link Wireless Access Point to work any time I change a configuration (like, oh, now), that I’m just going to go out and buy something that does the job right and easy and out of the box tomorrow.
So, at the moment, access only from Margie’s machine, and a big, long cable stretched across the floor. But it’s working.
Hoody-frickin-hoo!
That’s interesting. I’m using a D-Link 614+ and it works great. No issues. Have you tried seeing if you could upgrade the firmware on it?
This is a D-Link DWL-1000AP, dirt cheap and one of the first APs they had. It’s always been a bitch to configure, and any attempt to do so has usually emcompassed a day or two of just banging away at different settings, over and over and over.
Feh.
D-Link does decent low-end products (and I may end up with a D-Link router), but sometimes their bare-bones approach is a bit too bare.
