About once a quarter, I go out to the sites I read reguarly, look for tip jars, and drop a few dollars in. It’s my way of saying, “Hey, the laborer is worth his wage.” Or something like that.
And … well … I just couldn’t stand it. I mean, what if someone else wants to do the same thing? How can I rob others of that ability to self-express? Oh, the humanity!
So now I have am Amazon tip jar. I don’t expect it to see much (if any) action, but, well, what the heck?
It’s off in the side-bar, modestly buried there a page-down or two. If you’re a regular reader, you might never see it.
Of course, if you really love me, you can hit my wish list (in the Earthly Desires entry in the sidebar). (Gee, that makes the tip jar seem positively modest in comparison, doesn’t it?)
Okay, enough self-aggrandizing.
update your wish list…
And no, we are not going to get you the segway…
Oh, man!
(And the wish list was 99% up to date. Cleaned it up after the holidays.)
Almost…
But I seem to remember watching the Horton heard a hoo/grich DVD during that time period.
Ah. That’s the soundtrack CD, not the show DVD.
Wow, thats such a nice thing to do. The interent would be a whole lot better if their where more people like you.
🙂
I haven’t broken down and put up a tip jar yet though I do have my Amazon wishlist posted to my site. I write as much for the release as for any hope that someone might bother to read it so I’m always pretty flattered that people stop by and do so. Don’t know that my writing is so good that I could justify a tip jar to myself yet. If I start exceeding my bandwidth limits then I might consider it.
I’d rather have books off my wishlist anyway. Not that anybody (save for one) has ever done that either. 😉
Heh.
I’m honestly (and obviously) not doing it for the money. I do like to occasionally hit the tip jars of folks I enjoy reading — and find it mildly frustrating (in a perverse way) when they don’t have one — dropping a five in a tip jar is a bit cheaper than shipping them a $10 paperback from a wish list, or a $15 CD, after all, and while I want to show appreciation and all, I’m not crazy about it …
Anyway, I’m just doing it thinking of my readership. No, really.
(And I suddenly realized that Quanta above was speaking sincerely of my tipping, not sarcastically of my tip jar. Which was nice of him to say.)
Ekk, I should have made that clearer! I was defiantly talking about you tipping other sites.
🙂
Sorry ’bout that.
No problem. I’m often slow on the uptake.
