Thursday
Well, I already wrote about this back on Thursday, but I now have proof-positive that Margie GMed for me. Really!
Since it was a 1st Level, 4-player modulette, she let me take two 2nd Level characters. Thus, the husband-and-wife team of ugly-yet-bold fighter Blackjack and lovely-and-elvish cleric Valanthe. We kicked skeleton and kobold butt, and ended up with a new pet, to boot.
Margie does need practice with sort of the GM mechanics of knowing what’s where and when to look up tables and when to not. She did great with characterization and improv, though, and did some nice on-the-fly battle balancing that I wasn’t aware of until she’d pointed it out to me. And she took a bare-bones micro-adventure and gave it some nice color and context. Her villains (at least in combat) were not stupid.
In short, a budding talent, I must say, and one who’s a lot more diligent about prep work than I am.
I’d natter on more about her plans, but that’s her gig to do. I’m looking forward to it, though.
Friday
Went over and helped Doyce with getting the repainted office back together. In the meantime, played Trollbabe, an elegantly straightforward RPG system, a nice blend of narrativist and die-rolling bits. I don’t know that we gave it a fair work-out, but it was fun. I suspect we’ll see that system pop up again in the future.
Sunday
Back to Chrysalis, Doyce’s Nobilis campaign. We ended up getting together late, chit-chatting later, and only getting a (charitably) couple of hours of gaming in.
That was more than enough time, of course, for Sian to go through multiple re-angstings (just rereading the previous session was enough for that), to be have a chance to reach out to her Chancel brethren blown off, and to have her Imperator give her the run-around as to some “recovered” memories. Great fun, natch.
