In the interest of trying to improve the inexplicably dismal performance on Margie’s PC (a long-term problem that I’ve spent many hours tweaking settings regarding), I spent the weekend yanking out the Outlook monolith, replacing it with a reinstalled Palm Desktop (for her calendar and contacts and PDA sync) and Thunderbird (for her e-mail).
On the down side, the performance still sucks.
On the up side, it got rid of Outlook.
I have another cunning plan to address the performance, but I think it’d better be a success before I start talking about replacing her IE with Firefox …
