I have managed to avoid installing Critical Update for Windows (KB833407) since it came out in April, not because of any great fondness for the symbol it’s removing from the Bookshelf Symbol 7 font, but because I deeply resent M$ making this a critical update.
(That it removes another symbol, too, is also irksome.)
Well, in installing some other security update stuff the other day, evidently it turned on the Automatic Updates feature, which downloaded the patch, and which now keeps coming up and asking when I’m going to install it. And I can’t uncheck it or delete it or otherwise say, “Dammit, you are not a critical update, I don’t want to have to reboot my machine or pander to your PC impulses, just go away.” Which, in turn, frustrates me further.
