The 2003 Indie RPG Awards have been announced, and FATE is a serious winner:
- Third place over-all as Indie RPG of the Year.
- First place for Free Game of the Year.
- First place for Best Support
- Andy’s Choice Award
(The other big winner was Life with Master, which I know Doyce has been itching to run; this may push that over the edge.)
As I was reading the Best Support reviews, I kept running across references on FATE to a “resource wiki” and “Nice website, a yahoo group with discussions and supporting files, online tools like a character developer and even a wiki,” and this little bit at the award line:
Support-wise, the FATE guys are insane! They have the LiveJournal and the Yahoo! group, yeah, but it’s the WIKI that completely blew me away. There’s so much content. You can literally dig for hours through rules clarifications, setting material for *multiple* campaigns, links, and actual play reports.
And I’m going, “Hey, did they set up an official wiki for FATE? Cool, I need to check that out.” And I maneuvered over to the main FATE page, and, hey, look, in the menu on the sidebar, under Resources there’s a “Fate Wiki” menu item, and …
… uh …
… it’s this. I.e., the wiki I put together for my own campaign.
Gulp.
I had no idea I’d made such an official contribution to the FATE community (or even to its award). And, if so, I’m rather gratified, a bit blown away, and more than a bit daunted.
‘Cause now I really need to start making some updates to it …
UPDATE: Official announcement here.
UPDATE: Okay, I’m officially embarrassed.
More embarrassment.
