In the course of 15 minutes, I discovered:

  1. I’d spilled coffee on my beige slacks in the car.
  2. I’d left my cell phone home.

  3. Not only was the IT manager at the office I’m living at this week not in this week (after telling me to “come on down”), but nobody else in the IT group was in, nobody knew I was coming, and nobody was sure where I should sit the next few days. Ending up with me in a conference room (without a phone).

None of which is fatal, of course, but all of which is annoying.

At least it should be quiet.

UPDATE: After a few nasty glances from folks looking to use the little conference room, I relocated myself to an empty cube next to it. That has the further advantage of being right next to the one printer on the floor that I can get an IP address for, so that I can print.

Still no phone, though. I’ll have to dig one up to give Margie a call at lunch.
