- You can easily record an entire hard drive full of Dora the Explorer episodes over the course of a day or two. The thing is on nearly 24/7 on various kid’s channels. I wish I had residuals from it …
- The “message waiting” light on the Motorola cable box is even more annoying than the one on the old General Instruments box, probably because it’s the same little red LED (only in a different spot) as the “I’m recording now” light. Given that the “message waiting” is, nine times out of ten, an ad for PPV Boxing, it’s the equivalent of a really annoying banner ad. Rrg.
- When the little record LED comes on, though, telling you that the machine is recording a show on the other tuner, I am seized by an almost uncontrollable urge to Swap tuners (or turn on the TV) and see what it’s recording.
No other lessons so far, except that 30-60h of recording time is beginning to look like it’s way too little (which is, itself, a bit alarming) … 🙂 I have to rewire the console to get everything goinb back through the A/V receiver, but once that’s in place, life should be pretty good. At least as far as TV viewing is concerned.
I’ve only filled up the hard drive once, and that was while trying to catch up on 14 years of Law & Order.
