Word is that when Walt Disney World’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride goes through rehab and reopens in early-mid 2006, there will be a new audio-animatronic character in the last scene.
While the purist in me recoils, it does actually make some sense. Evidently quite a number of visitors are confused over why the ride doesn’t have Johnny Depp’s PotC movie character in it. And ties between Disney flicks and the rides (even retcons thereto) are hardly unknown.
Indeed, as I was reading the article, my initial thought was that Jack (or perhaps Barbossa) might be inserted in the initial “pirate ship foolishly attacking the fort” tableau. The idea of Jack hanging out in the commandante‘s treasure chamber is a bit better. And anything that spruces up the inferior WDW Pirates ride is worthwhile.
As long as Eddie Murphy doesn’t show up next at the Haunted Mansion, I think I can live with it.
Well…Having Eddie Murphy appear in the Hologram next to you in the gondola/car would make the ride really scary though.;->
Murphy can join the Haunted Mansion ride as long as he’s dead!
Hey, I like Eddie Murphy. I just don’t feel that the HM needs that kind of tweaking.
