The only gaming of the weekend was on Saturday, when the Testerfolk and Randy came over and we played Doyce’s Heroquest Chinese fantasy campaign, Xian Quan. Which is actually his Spring Fountain campaign, but with different PCs, a few different players, and not set in France. I play the bright young cavalry veteran and idealistic/chivalrous likable fellow, Kai Jiong, while Margie plays the mysterious, magical pretty boy, Ro.

We actually spent 3/4 of the time wrapping up chargen (mostly Randy, but a little bit from each of us) and getting character sheets all up to snuff. The actual gaming action was fun, leading up to the first couple of “bangs” for the group as a whole (it’s interesting reading, in contrast, essentially the same set-up, but with different characters). It will be interesting to see how the different PCs mesh, as well as get a better feel for HQ. As is my wont, I’m eschewing magic-centered characters for the moment (that many less rules for a lazy man to learn), but so far, I’m liking what I see.

And, at last, this week, I have to get off my ass and get things ready for my long-long-loooooong-delayed IDC game on Sunday.

UPDATE: Doyce’s eval.
