The most recent trailer for the Fantastic Four is up. It’s nearly impossible to tell much about the movie, since it’s all super-quick cuts, but … DEAR GOD, PLEASE LET THAT NOT BE THE SOUNDTRACK.
Okay, I’m better now.
The fx look fine, and it looks like there will be a lot of them. That the trailer depends on the quick intercuts and the fx (and the HARD-DRIVING CONTEMPORARY MUSIC SOUNDTRACK) to maintain one’s interest is not promising, but, again, trailers aren’t always done by the same folks who do the movie.
The Thing’s outfit is about what I expected — he’s more early-FF thing (flexible and dinosaur-hide-like) than what most folks think of (big orange rocks), but that’s okay.
The question is, will the story be any good, or will it just be an fx-fest? ‘Cause if it’s the latter, then yet another Marvel property will have been squandered to little effect. For all that the FF folk have been worried about the fx in The Incredibles, what made the movie a success was at least as much a strong story and interesting characters. Yes, there are still places for that in action flicks. Hope the FF folk realize that.

I liked the music at the beginning of the trailer! Let’s hope that’s representative of the soundtrack.
The Thing looks better than he did in that still photo you posted earlier. You’re right; he is reminiscent of the early lumpy Thing.
Dr. Doom looks like a Jedi in that hooded robe. A Dark Jedi, true, but still…
It does have potential. (It also has the potential to be royally messed up, but I remain optimistic. Plus I like the release date!)
