I find it appalling that I am sorely, sorely tempted to pick up the Lidsville – Complete Series DVD set.
Lidsville was one of what seemed like an endless array of Sid & Marty Kroft live-action fantasy shows (along with H.R. Pufnstuf and The Bugaloos) that were major landmarks in my childhood Saturday mornings.
What is more appalling than my Pavlovian desire to get the frelling DVD set is that I actually remember the lyrics to the show.
He was stunned and he was fascinated, still he had to see
There was something deep inside the hat, what could that something be?
Then cautiously each step he took, he climbed up on the brim to look,
And all at once the hat began to shake, and rock — Look out!
My God.
He is the only one who can help you now.
Well, at least I now know that I haven’t sunk as low as it’s possible to go.
Thank you for that, Dave!
***Dave, I can make you feel better about yourself.
This Christmas I got the entire run of PeeWee’s Playhouse on DVD. You worry about reverting back to things from your childhood? Oh pish and tosh. I’m reverting back to things from my daughter’s childhood.
And yes, I knew all the words to the theme song.
There. See. There is always someone to look down on 🙂
I actually sat through an H.R. Pufnstuf marathon a few weeks ago on TV Land. God, I really do miss the Kroft Superstars.
