We went out to see a production of My Fair Lady at the La Mirada Theatre last night. Very well done production — good acting, good singing, good sets and costumes.
MFL isn’t my favorite show — Higgins is an awful person (though they managed to finesse the ending to make it a bit less of an undeserved “triumph” for him), and I find the Eliza’s dad scenes to be emblematic of why I don’t care for most musicals (“Too much dialog and story the last several minutes — let’s have a Big Musical Number now!”). But it was a nice evening nonetheless, it’s always fun to have dinner at a North Woods Inn, and gave me an excuse to sing other R&H show tunes to Margie on the drive home.
Makes me want to see Pygmalion again, though.
