
The twenty-odd of us descend upon the Eagle in Cambridge, established in 1525, and festooned with WWII pilot memorabilia. I am introduced to Old Speckled Hen, a tasty ale.

Not only does it mention the signatures of WWII RAF and USAAC pilots up on the ceiling — done with lighters and candles and lipstick — but it mentions that it was Watson and Crick’s long-hard-day-discovering-DNA hangout.
