BT05 – When Blog the Mighty!

Quiet house, save for the fan and the music. It’s interesting — some folks are a lot into the “Blogathon Community” — the forums, the “radio,” the chats, etc. Me?…

Quiet house, save for the fan and the music.

It’s interesting — some folks are a lot into the “Blogathon Community” — the forums, the “radio,” the chats, etc. Me? When I’m creating, leave me alone. I have only one chance to transcribe what the Voice in My Head is telling me to write, and if you make me respond to you, I will lose it and the Voice will be angry. The Voice being angry is a bad thing …

Jeez, it’s only 1:30 and I’m beginning to lose it … 🙂

Review code format (ranked 1-5, blah to faboo): [writing / art / new reader? / non-comics reader?]

PVP: At Large (Vol. 1) (Image) [5/4/5/4] (collects #1-6)
w/a. Scott Kurtz
Kurtz takes on gaming (online and otherwise) and pretty much every other geeky behavior in his ongoing web strip. Some people have opinions on Kurtz from reasons other than his work (he’s a bit controversial in the world of web comics, indy comics, etc.), but I think pVp is just brilliant, and I tend to save a copy at least once or twice a week. This collection — collections from the Image comics printings of his work — includes bits on tabletop D&D, Skull running away, and a reference to the best Frank Frazetta-inspired polar bear drawing evah. I love this stuff.

PVP: Reloaded (Vol. 2) (Image) [5/4/5/4] (collects #2-7)
w/a. Scott Kurtz
More of the above, including Francis’ unfortunate bit of time-traveling-induced lack of impulse control, Star Wars: Galaxies, Skull becoming a genius, Skull killing the Savage Dragon, and Francis’ new roleplaying game about roleplaying games. It’s all much funnier than it sounds. Take up and read.

PVP: The Dork Ages (Image) [4/4/5/4] (collects Dork Storm issues #1-6)
w/a. Scott Kurtz
Yet more. Skull as Cupid. A Matrix pastiche. Super-hero gaming. Anime. It’s all good.

(listening to: Pet Shop Boys, “One More Chance” from Actually)
(listening to: “Schubert, Scherzo no. 1 in Bb, Op. posth, D.593” from Romantic Piano Music)
(listening to: Heart, “Barracuda” from Heart – Greatest Hits)
