The job has already increased somewhat in scope. The old pads/footings were not up to current city spec, so they have to be replaced, along with the other couple that need to be added.
Main thing I need to do at the moment is chop down the tree rose at the end of the old deck. Gonna try to store it away for the winter.
Cats are going to be pissed, I suspect, not being able to bug us at the back door to let them out (or, more often, in). That’s the “bright side” to all this.

Hacked back the climbing rose — we’ll see if it survives. If not, we replace it. If so, swell.
