Ended up playing The Shadows of Yesterday last night at the Casa — Lee, De, Jacke and I being put through our pre-genned paces by Doyce (same scenario as mentioned with another group here). Lots of fun, an enjoyably flexible (yet well-structured enough) system that one has an idea of what’s possible without it being constrained to whether to use the dagger or the longsword.

As the Deceiver with a Heart of Gold (I immediately thought of Face), I enjoyed playing with both my abilities and the “constraints” of my keys. I was pleased by some solutions I came up with some problems, and think it could be a fine sort of system to run — well, anything in, though the sort of dark fantasy pirate stuff worked nicely. Plus it uses FATE dice, and uses them well.

Good stuff. Thanks, Doyce.
