Everyone’s seems to be having a blast in this thread developing new logos for existing companies in a “Web 2.0” style, which style seems to include lots of …

  1. Pastel colors
  2. Swooshes and splashes
  3. Reflections and highlights and texture and perspective shifts and other 3-D graphic show-offs.
  4. Softer lettering
  5. Exclamation points
  6. Removal of the “e” in “-er” suffixes (Flickr-style)
  7. Web addressed names
  8. Turning things on their sides
  9. Lots of version numbering, beta indications, etc.

The irony is, as much as I dislike gratuitous re-logoing, some of these are pretty cool.  And others are just plain funny.  And almost all are better than most of the new logos I’ve seen of late.
