Whilst playing CoH last night, Sugar brought in a cricket and played with it for a while until I was able to break away and get rid of the poor critter.
Last night, long about 2:30a, Sugar came jumping onto our bed, all excited, as she is wont to be at 2:30a. Pat, pat, meow, meow, jump, run.
Margie must have either heard something shortly thereafter, or else suspected something, because I heard her fumbling for her glasses, then turning on the light, then gasping … followed by “I’m going to let myself be amused by this” chuckling.
Yes, Sugar had brought a (now-dead) rabbit in and set it down next to Margie’s side of the bed to have at it.
Being the Man of the House, I got to dispose of the rabbit, while Margie lauded Sugar’s hunting skills (and so distracted her from what I was doing).
Actually, what’s fairly impressive is that the Sugar’s a pretty small, light cat. That she was able to catch the rabbit is remarkable. That she was able to get it all the way into the house and upstairs is pretty amazing.
Ahem.
Maybe we should have called her Shere Khan. Or Bunny Breath.
Margie calls it, “Monday is for Mammals.” Though, she notes this morning, “Tuesday appears to be for Worms and Other Invertibrates,” which isn’t nearly as catchy.
Given the wounds it is possible that she found it rather than caught it. I’m just glad that she couldn’t get it up in the bed.
As for disposing of animals being a man-job, I took care of the last midnight present AND the big fat juice worm she left in the hall this morning.
Beetles and worms don’t count. Birds and bunnies are Man Jobs. I have the cave paintings to prove it.
(“Hey, Wilma — look what Kitty-Cat dragged in …”)
Poor bunny.
I beg your pardon sir, I took care of the bird.
You did? (Blinks) Must have been too late at night for me to remember.
While most couples disagree over sex or money, you seem to have a thing for animals????
The MIL
No midnight gifts last night. I trod carefully when I got up in the dark …
