Margie IMs:
They had a mix of old and new machines
Only trouble I had was that a group of 3 arrived just before me and they filled the 2 standard booths and were slow.
One of the double check appears to involve filling out a slip of paper with your name and address, also had to write my driver’s license number in the book – think that has beed standard for a while.
I’m pretty sure they’ve asked for the DL in the past. Colorado does require some sort of personal ID check. I can understand why that can be a problem for some people, but I also understand the need for doing something to validate voter eligibility.
This is one of the longest ballots in Colorado history; I expect there will be delays in getting folks routed through the booths. I plan on bringing a book.
Washington is all mail-in. Or drop-in-the-box-at-the-grocery-store-while-running-errands, for many of us.
I got to the polling place (St Thomas More church, down the street) and walked in. The place handles four or five precincts. My precinct had two of the older electronic booths allocated to it. Both were full. I was next in line. Total transaction time, maybe 15 minutes, tops.
That included chatting with the nice election judges, who seemed happy and chipper. There had been some problems with the “new” machines brought in at the last second. And reporters had been queued up this morning to takes pictures of the place. But they seemed in good spirits.
On the other hand, when we then took Katherine to karate at the Lone Tree rec center, the lines filled the lobby and were out the door, and people were being told 2-3 *hours*. Yikes. No idea what was wrong.
Yeah…
Denver didn’t get going until like 10 because of those blasted voting machines…or the laptops tripping the panels at the polling places. It was a mess from what I hear.
Denver asked to have the times extended and a judge rejected it. I’ll put her name on the no vote list for next time around.
But, always remember…as long as you are in line when the polls close they must allow you to vote.
Well, the rec center is actually in DougCo, and it’s a new building so I wouldn’t expect to be have breakers trip.
That said, still quite the mess.
Doyce and Jackie and Election Hell. Yikes.
