Book Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I am going to say very little about this book, largely because there are many people who have not yet read it, and therefore would be disappointed to learn that Voldemort is actually Harry’s — oh, wait, I shouldn’t tell about that.  Well, learning that Mrs Weasley and Snape have actually — drat, don’t want to spoil that scene, either.  Ah — there’s the hot three-way with —

Oh, never mind.

Suffice it to say that I felt utterly and completely satisfied, by the time I finished the book, with both the time and the money invested in the series.  I could quibble over some of the huge expository passages, or some of the deus ex magical-doubletalk that resolved some of the conflicts.  But enough of the various and sundry character arcs reached reasonable and fulfilling conclusions to make me feel like Rowling really did know what the heck she was doing by the time all was said and done.

Good show.

By the way, for those who wanted a more detailed epilogue, Rowling has given out MANY HUGE SPOILERS in an interview that should really, truly, only be read when you’ve finished the book.  Really.  And there’s more SPOILERS here, as well as promises by Rowling that she’ll be putting her notes into encyclopediac form, for those who cannot learn enough of the details — like STILL MORE SPOILERS about the deaths that did (and didn’t) happen in the series.

But all that aside — yeah, I liked it.  Makes me want to reread the series — though, not quite yet. 🙂
