And, once again on this trip, I discovered (through omission) that nobody seems to care, or notice, if you have bottles o’ stuff that you don’t pull out and run through the X-Ray Line separately from the rest of your luggage.
Both going and returning, my bag o’ Potentially Explosive Liquids were indeed 3-oz-or-less containers inside of an Official Approved-Size Zip-Lok — but I neglected to pull them out of my suit case. No alarms sounded, my suit case didn’t get taken out to the tarmac and detonated remotely, I didn’t get roughed up with truncheons or forced to submit to a strip search. And this is by no means the first time this has happened.
What it tells me is that either (a) they simply aren’t noticing it, or (b) they’re noticing it but they simply aren’t making any sort of a deal of it. Either way — can we get back to actual security measures, rather than this sort of security theater? I’m tired of having to use those microscopic tubes of toothpaste …
