Whew. Long day. After attending the “Members Breakfast” at the Zoo (which was quite fun), we got home and I swung into action (with Katherine’s help) in the front yard.
Finished digging up and bagging the irises (I need to do a photo check to figure out what irises are which, but they are all at least clustered together). If you are interested in some iris rhizomes for your home, and you live in the area, tell me — we have waaaaay more than we need.
(Maybe Katherine could take them to school with her to give to her friends in class. We could call it “irises for pupils” …)
I also started pulling together pots for transplanting things from the yard, and did a couple of small ones, preliminary to tomorrow’s work. I won’t be scavenging everything. If anyone local wants to dig up some plants — some dianthus, some lavender, oregano, cat mint, a few other ground-covery things — feel free to swing by tomorrow and dig some up.
Kitten helped with the iris cleaning, and also with moving bricks over to another part of the yard and using them to edge some area.
It was about four-plus hours of pretty steady yard work — but it felt good.
